Policy

Payment for services: Pawsitively Pets accepts cash, checks and charge card payments. We use PayPal for charge card payments that are processed through email invoicing only. This way, we assure our clients financial security by not keeping  clients charge card numbers at our private premises.  There is a 3% fee for all charge card transactions. A fee of $30.00 will be charged for all checks returned by your bank.

Consultation Visit:  You will receive a free consultation visit from Pawsitively Pets to meet you and your pet. During the visit we will discuss all important issues with you and can help you fill out the necessary documents. At this time you will need to provide Pawsitively Pets with two keys to your house, a garage door opener and any security alarm codes. Pawsitivley Pets is bonded and insured through Pet Sitters Associates, LLC.

Emergency Contacts:  Pawsitively Pets requests the names and phone numbers of two emergency contacts living nearby. One should be a person close enough to walk to your home, if roads are impassable.

Vaccinations:  Pawsitively Pets will need a copy of the current rabies certification.  Please provide a copy on the date of the initial visit, we will keep this record on file. This is very important for your pet's health as well as for the other pets in our care.

Veterinarian care:  We request all our clients to sign the emergency care form, which enables us to seek veterinarian care in case of an emergency. We will first contact your veterinarian but should we not be able to reach them, we will call one of the emergency clinics in the immediate area. Pawsitively Pets will also mail a post card to your veterinarian and advise them in advance, that Pawsitively Pets will be caring for your pet and that we ask them to make a note on your file stating such.

Service Confirmation:  We will make a confirmation call no less than two days before your departure in order to verify that all information is still correct. Since phone messages can get lost, please make sure that we speak personally before your departure to ensure your pet's needs are carried out as intended.

Inclement Weather:  You are entrusting Pawsitively Pets to use our best judgment in caring for your pets and home. In the case of inclement weather (severe snow or rain storms/flooding), we will carry out your instructions to the best of our ability. The care we provide to your pets and their safety is our first concern. The client's selection of two nearby emergency contacts has been requested. The inclement weather plan will be as follows: every effort will be made to drive to your home; if the service schedule needs to be changed, interrupted or altered due to the circumstances and it is not possible to drive safely to your home, your emergency contact will be notified. You will also be notified about the activation of the inclement weather plan.

Job Sharing: Pawsitively Pets does not recommend job sharing. Our insurance and bonding policies cover Pawsitively Pets employees only. While we understand the financial benefit of having friends and family share the visits, it is stressful to both the pets and the pet sitters. All requests must be discussed with the owner of Pawsitively Pets directly and may require a waiver of insurance and bonding protection provided by Pawsitively Pets due to our insurance policy.  These well-intentioned actions can cause much confusion during a shared responsibility sitting arrangement.  Most common problems include: overfeeding, unlocked doors and lost/missing keys. 

Leashes:  All dogs are leashed during outdoor walks with no exceptions, unless they are run in a fenced yard.

Pet clean-up:  Pawsitively Pets will dispose of pet waste and will do our best to clean up any accidents your pet may have, however, Pawsitively Pets is not responsible for any floor/carpet stains created by your pet. We request that you provide paw towels, cleaning products, paper towels, plastic bags and trash bags.  All pet waste will be disposed of in outside containers.

Unexpected purchases:  We will ask you to have a generous supply of food, litter, and cleaning supplies available, if an unexpected purchase is needed for your pets well-being we will retain a receipt and the customer will be responsible for reimbursement of these items.

Plant Watering:  Please be specific when placing your service order with regard to the watering instructions for plants. Pawsitively Pets will not be liable or responsible for any browning, wilting or dying of any plants. We are not plant specialists and will water only according to the schedule and instruction you have requested of us.

Every other day pet sitting: We can no longer accept every other day pet sitting. All pet sitting services must be scheduled at least 1 x per day, in consecutive days in a row, from your departure to arrival dates. However, we do accept pet sitting services that start the day after you depart, and end the day before you arrive back home. (Usually for cat sitting only)

Cancellation Policy:  Please inform us of any cancellation or change to service as soon as possible. We currently do not charge a fee unless services are rendered. If services are performed, the full amount of the contract service agreement is charged.

Returning early:  If services begin and you return early, you will be charged for your full contract service agreement amount.

Trip Delay:  If you are delayed in returning home, Pawsitively Pets can continue to feed your pets ONLY if we have been notified at your earliest convenience.  If Pawsitively Pets cannot accommodate you, your emergency contacts will be called.

Return Home Confirmation:  Please give us a call to let Pawsitively Pets know when you have returned home.  Otherwise Pawsitively Pets will continue visiting to assure the safety and well-being for your pets. Please call at any hour and leave a voice message that you have returned.
